The Office of Budget and Management's philosophy is that openness leads to a better informed citizenry and better public policy, which leads to better government. It is the policy of OBM to strictly adhere to the state of Ohio's Public Records Act.
All records of OBM are public unless they are specifically exempt from disclosure under the Ohio Revised Code. All exemptions to openness are to be construed in their narrowest sense and any denial of public records in response to a valid request must be accompanied by an explanation, including legal authority, as outlined in the Ohio Revised Code or other statutory or administrative authority.
OBM maintains its public records in a manner which allows this office to provide the general public prompt inspection of its public records, and copies of these records within a reasonable amount of time during our regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Those seeking public records will be charged only the actual cost of making copies.
OBM has a Public Records Policy, a complete copy of which is available upon request. Further, OBM follows a Schedule of Records Retention, a copy of which is available upon request.
If you have questions about OBM's Public Records Policy, please feel free to contact the OBM's Legal Counsel.
