Do you have the reports available for specific
days?
No, however, the reports are in their respective packages and a date
filter can be applied for a certain date.
Is there a different method to distribute the
RCASH04A, it is had to read in the body of the e-mail?
There are different formats that can be used to generate a report
(HTML, PDF, EXCEL, & XML). The problem we ran into was firewall (size)
constraints from other agencies. HTML has the smallest e-mail size (and runs
the fastest). Please note, large reports can run into the EXCEL 65K line limit.
PDF creates a very nice interface to work with a report.
Since there are time and firewall issues, we suggest pulling a copy of RCASH04A from the OBM Detail Journal Reporting Table and running the report whenever and however they prefer.
Is there a limit on characters for naming a
report?
There is a 35 character limit. It will display the first 35 characters
in the browser and truncate the rest of the report name.
Can an agency see both sides of a transaction,
what other agencies post to them, and what they post to other agencies?
Yes, if they filter on account types 92, 93, and 94.
Can you use wild cards, i.e. (*), in filters?
Yes, you can use wild cards in filters. However, Cognos has some built
in functions like 'starts with' that can be used to the same affect.
Do you have to turn off the aggregate
functions field by field?
No, when you select Query Explorer then Query 1 you are able to change Auto
Group and Sum to off, from the Properties box.

Do you have to select the report output from
the drop down menu every time?
No, the last format you ran the report in becomes the new default
format. The default will change back to HTML when you close out of the report
or when you open a new report.
Is it possible to have a field deliver only a specific number of characters from
that field? For example: Document number is normally 6 characters, 123-456, but I need to see only the first 3, 123.
Yes, in Cognos you are able to have a field deliver only a certain number of characters. To do this you need to click on the desired field, go into the properties box, along the left hand side of the screen, then scroll down to the Data Item section and click the expression field then the ellipse. Modify the expression like the below.
substring([Presentation Layer].[All Open Items Fact].[Document Number],1,3)
When the report is ran you will then see the first 3 characters of document number.
When I try to run the report I built of off the OBM Grant Header Reporting Table I receive duplicate amounts. I am filtering on Fiscal Year 2007. Do I need to filter on anything else?
Yes, to receive data that is not duplicated you will also need to filter on calendar date.
